Accreditation

  • The School of Family and Consumer Sciences is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. (November 2002) Eastern Illinois University's FCS program was the first school accredited by American Home Economic Association now known as AAFCS in October, 1974.  It was re-accredited in October 1982 and October 1984.
  • The Didactic Program in Dietetics at the undergraduate level is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetics Education of The American Dietetic Association, 120 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, 312-899-0400. (2008)
  • The post baccalaureate Dietetic Internship offered only as a part of our Master of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences: Dietetics Option is granted accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetics Education of The American Dietetic Association, 120 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, 312-899-0400.
  • The B.S. Teacher Certification option is approved by the Illinois State Board of Higher Education and National Council on Teacher Accreditation.
