Managing Your Online Faculty Profile Workshop

The Chronicle of Higher Education periodically offers suggests for faculty on how to manage your web presence (“Creating Your Web Presence: A Primer for Academics,” 14 Feb. 2011), or, as it is now termed, curating it (“How to Curate Your Digital Identity as an Academic,” 2 Jan. 2015). Your web presence is important for communicating your academic interests to potential students, especially at the graduate level, to former students (alumni), to those in your academic field and related fields, and to the public at large. But such managing/curating need not consume a large chunk of your available time. The Office of Faculty Development is offering a workshop on Managing Your Online Faculty Profile, part of our Let's Talk Do Tech series, Tuesday, 20 March @ 11 in Witters Conference Room, 4440 Booth Library. In this workshop, Britto Nathan, Biological Sciences; Lisa Dallas, LCBAS, SCE, CATS; Todd Bruns, Booth Library; and Jay Grabiec, CATS, offer quick, innovative, and effective ways to curate your academic presence online, from the Faculty Profile option on EIU's site, to tips on how to most effectively use The Keep repository service of Booth Library, to a possible, new and dynamic interface for updating faculty websites hosted by EIU. Click here to register now!

Fac Dev on D2L

The Faculty Development course site within Brightspace (d2l) has been moved to the current semester (Spring 2018). The Fac Dev site is open to all faculty and gives access to news and information. Through this course site, all faculty teaching this semester can access the 20 Minute-Mentor Commons, a series of programs on refining and rethinking teaching face-to-face, online and blended courses, at both the individual course and the department/program level. If you are faculty, but not teaching this semester, and want to add this, email us
