Fern Kory teaches courses in modern American literature (including seminars focused on fiction of the 1920s and the Harlem Renaissance) and a variety of courses in literature for children and young adults (including a course in twentieth-century African-American youth literature). She has published book reviews in the Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books, and articles in the journal Children's Literature and in a collection of essays on Teaching Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises. As a teacher of writing and as Director of the Writing Center, she is also actively engaged in the study of composition pedagogy, particularly as it relates to writing center work.
