Professional Writing Internship ARR**
**Students must have permission of Director before registering for the Internship.
The internship in Professional Writing is designed to give you practical experience in creating communication that fits the specific needs of an external organization. For the internship, you will complete 150 hours of work with the organization to which you are assigned. The supplementary classroom-based component of the course involves weekly postings to WebCT, an academic research paper, and assigned readings on topics such as organizational culture, enculturation, effective workplace writing practices, collaboration, and technology. At the end of the internship, you will construct a portfolio of projects completed for your internship.
Students may seek their own (full-time or part-time, paid or unpaid) internships, or they may opt to be placed into an internship by the Internship Coordinator. Students wishing to discuss an internship placement for Summer 2012 should contact Dr. Fredrick (tafredrick@eiu.edu; Coleman 3070) prior to registration.
PERMISSION OF THE DIRECTOR MUST BE SECURED PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT so that placement arrangements can be made.
