About the Program

The two-year Master of Science in Chemistry program at Eastern Illinois University involves advanced study in the major areas of chemistry and a research project culminating in a thesis. The program has excellent track of record of student placement, with graduates moving on to doctorate programs; professional schools; and positions in industry, government and education. The curriculum promotes independent thinking and strive to challenge students to achieve a high level of technical competence and creativity. Collaborative within and between research groups and interdisciplinary coursework develops team-building skills. Students regularly co-author peer-reviewed publications and have opportunities to improve their communication skills through presentations of their research both on campus and at regional, national and international meetings.
