Common Core Standards - The Illinois State Board of Education has adopted new Math and English Language Arts standards for K-12 education known as the New Illinois State Learning Standards Incorporating the Common Core. The goal is to better prepare Illinois students for success in college and the workforce in a competitive global economy.

Additional Opportunities
Creative Activity Fund Application (pdf) Due March 1, 2013 - Through the generosity of Thomas & Deane Hoehn (EIU Alumni) a Creative Activity Fund has been established. Funds will be used to enhance the classroom experience by providing creative opportunities for integrative learning. The recipient(s) of this award shall demonstrate a project need that is to be integrated in their classroom (practicum) experience (e.g. lesson supplies / resources / manipulatives / certificates / trophies for competitions, etc.). Items purchased through this fund are to remain in the school upon project completion.
