"During my time as an EIU graduate student in the coordinated dietetic internship and Master’s coursework program I was employed as a Graduate Assistant and served as the Nutrition Education Coordinator at the Health Education Resource Center, also known as the HERC. This position provided me with one-on-one nutrition counseling experiences as well as gave me the knowledge and confidence to present nutrition education information to large groups and community settings. I grew both as a nutrition educator and as a dietetic professional. My GA position also gave me the opportunity to work with other graduate students in health education, peer health education, and marketing/public relations in order to come together as a team to meet the goals of the HERC. I had a lot of fun at the HERC and that experience definitely put me in a better position for employment and looked great on my resume. This position helped me develop confidence and gave me the necessary nutrition skills needed to move forward into my dietetic internship and attain employment as a Registered Dietitian!"
