Every gift made to EIU -- whether it is big or small -- makes a difference. The “ripple effect” of each donation is amazing to watch and inspires giving in others. When recent scholarship recipients were asked what they would like to say to alumni, friends and donors to EIU, this is what they wrote:
“I would like to say thank you to everyone who supports EIU. Without their funding, EIU would not be where it is today -- and what a shame that would be! EIU is a special school for me personally, and I couldn’t imagine not having it in my life. I cannot wait to become a Panther alumnus and one day financially support it as well. Thank you again!”

“Due to your support, EIU has grown into the success that it is today. EIU is not simply a college that students go to in order to earn a degree to find a job, but rather a second home that students find comfort in while away from their families. Thank you for all of your support and I hope to one day give to EIU as much as the university has given to me.”

Amie Hansen says her time at EIU would've been "10 times more stressful" if not for the scholarships she's earned. Instead of needing to work to pay her way through college, Amie has had time to focus more on her studies and also become an active part of the Eastern community.
Many students attending EIU are eager to attain a college degree, but most cannot afford to pay for their education on their own. At Eastern Illinois University, 67.8 percent of full-time undergraduates receive some kind of need-based financial aid. Without generous donors like yourself, many students would not be able to fulfill their dreams of graduating from EIU.
As she grew up in Mexico, Liz Arreola's teachers told her she had what it took to go to college, but her parents never really expected to have the financial means to send her. Thanks to the scholarships she's been able to earn, however, Liz is a student at EIU and an active member of the university's Latin American Student Organization.
At Eastern Illinois University, we are constantly striving to provide our students, faculty and staff with the essential tools they need to learn. We also pride ourselves in being at the forefront of technology and scientific research. EIU houses one of the largest biomass renewable energy projects in the country and is one of the most environmentally responsible colleges in the United States and Canada, according to The Princeton Review.
With its state-of-the-art Renewable Energy Center and new M.S. in Sustainable Energy degree program, Eastern Illinois University clearly recognizes the value of being part of the alternative fuels vanguard. A great deal of research and innovation is taking place on campus, and students are getting in on the action right along with their faculty mentors.
