My approach to counseling is integrative and tailored to the unique needs of each student. I use a multicultural framework and primarily draw from interpersonal and relational therapies as well as person-centered therapy. I include aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy, gestalt therapy, and other approaches as needed. I am a generalist at heart and enjoy working with a wide-range of presenting concerns. Some clinical areas/populations that I am particularly interested in include: sexual orientation and gender identity, sexual assault and interpersonal violence, substance use and addictions, couples counseling, group counseling, graduate students, and issues related to shame. I also love outreach and am trained as a Safe Zone facilitator. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends as well as traveling.
I have a master's degree in counseling and counselor education from Indiana University, Bloomington and a doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have over eight years of experience working with college student populations. I enjoy both clinical work and teaching.
