Kruger places third in professional radio contest

A Communication Studies major from Eastern Illinois University has taken home one of the top places in a professional radio production contest.
Ethan Kruger (Senior from Aurora) won 3rd Place for Best Public Service Announcement in the Small Market Radio division of the 2012 Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Awards. Kruger was honored for his Be a Buckle Buddy PSA, which was produced as part of his Radio Production class at Eastern.
The award is especially noteworthy because it came in a statewide competition for professional broadcasters, not just students. Kruger becomes the second Eastern radio broadcaster to take home a place in the professional contest in the last five years.
An EIU Communication Studies alumnus was also honored at the Silver Dome Awards. J.C. Fultz received 1st Place for Best Weathercaster in the Medium Market Television division. Fultz is the Assistant Chief Meteorologist at WAND-TV in Decatur.
