EIU Students Honored at Film Festival

Film Festival 1 Film Festival 2

Three Eastern Illinois University Communication Studies majors collaborated on a film that won two awards in a Central Illinois film festival this summer.

Dustin Tylman (senior from Charleston), Gabe Przygoda (senior from Charleston) and Andy Due (senior from Charleston) produced a film entitled "Bellifax: The Not-So-Standard Oil Company."  The film was named Best Film and was honored for Best Direction at the fourth annual Land of Lincoln Credit Union 21 Film Project, held in August in Decatur.

Przygoda was the videographer for the film, Tylman was the editor, and Due was in charge of audio.  The film was written by Will Addison, a Charleston native who is a student at the University of New Orleans.  All of the students also had on camera roles in the film.  Also appearing in the cast were EIU Communication Studies instructors John Eisenhour and A. J. Walsh, along with Eastern's Interim Dean of the College of Science, Godson Obia.

The students earned a $1,500 cash prize for their work.  For Przygoda and Tylman, it's the second time in the last year that they've been honored for their film-making efforts.  They collaborated to produce a public service announcement on earthquake preparedness that won a $10,000 prize in a contest sponsored by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency in February of 2011.
