Communication Studies set to host Debate Watch

Mitt Romney Barack Obama

The Eastern Illinois University Department of Communication Studies will host Debate Watch on Tuesday evening, October 16th.

Debate Watch is a voter education program that brings citizens together to watch the televised debates and talk about what they learned.  The audience on October 16th will watch the second Presidential debate, which will be held at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York and features a town meeting format.  After the debate, the audience will hold a discussion about the debate.  The goal is not necessarily to pick a winner or a loser but to become informed citizens and voters.

The discussion will be led by Communication Studies faculty members Dr. Marita Gronnvoll and Sara Gronstal.  Representatives from the E. I. U. College Republicans and Democrats have been invited to attend.

Debate Watch will be held on Tuesday evening, October 16th in Coleman Hall 1255.  The program starts at 7:45 p.m. with the debate scheduled for 8:00.  The discussion will follow the debate.  E. I. U. students and the public are invited to attend free of charge.
