Graduate Program
The Master of Arts in Communication Studies provides students with an opportunity to engage in a multifaceted course of study grounded in a strong theoretical base, but also recognizing the marketplace. Students can choose from three areas of concentration:
- Human Communication Processes
- Strategic Communication
- Critical / Cultural Studies
The program prepares students to be more competitive in the work place or to continue studies in a Ph.D. program.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate with a Master of Arts in communication studies, you need to complete or comply with the following:- 3.0 or better grade point average in all coursework.
- 36 hours of approved coursework.
- No more than 10 hours of "C" credit.
- No more than six hours of classes 4750 to 4999.
- No more than nine hours of independent study, thesis creative project or creative thesis included on the study plan.
- Demonstration of comprehensive knowledge via core comprehensive exams followed by a thesis, creative thesis or elective comprehensive exams.
- Completion of the program within five years of the semester you start.
