Dr. Rebecca Throneburg, professor of communication disorders and sciences, currently serves as the graduate program's coordinator of graduate study. The graduate program offers a Master of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences.

Dr. Throneburg teaches courses in research methods, child language development, articulation and phonology disorders, and motor speech disorders. She values research collaboration with students and has directed/co-directed more than 40 undergraduate and graduate thesis projects at EIU. A sample of topics of research with students include articulation disorders, stuttering/fluency disorders, speech therapy service delivery models in the school setting, executive function skills in typically developing children and children with speech-language disorders, and telehealth and traditional speech therapy for patients with Parkinson's disease. She received her doctorate from the University of Illinois in 1997.
