NSSLHA Update
The officers and members of NSSLHA continued their efforts to raise funds for worthwhile causes, provide educational opportunities beyond the classroom, and offer activities to facilitate camaraderie and socialization. Activities this past school year included a Halloweenie roast, trivia night, and a student-faculty Christmas luncheon. NSSLHA also honored our clients at the annual client-clinician Christmas party. One of the educational opportunities this year was a presentation by Ms. Jill Fahy on Right Hemisphere Disorders. Fundraising events helped raise money for Relay for Life and the annual NSSLHA Loves Campaign, The Stuttering Foundation. NSSLHA also encouraged campus-wide participation in the “Light it up Blue” Campaign. The entire campus community was encouraged to participate in Autism Awareness Month by wearing blue a day in April and by donating loose change for the organization Autism Speaks.
Advisors, Mrs. Becker and Dr. Anthony, would like to extend a special thanks to the 2010-2011 NSSLHA officers for organizing the events this past year. Their time and efforts were much appreciated. Officers included Mara Hampton as President, Rosie Hackl as Vice-President, Karen Heidner as Secretary, Megan Gingerich as Treasurer, and Leigha Graham as Program Coordinator.
