CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

The Program Committee for the 2014 ISHA Convention announces the Call for Presentations. We encourage all members of ISHA to use this opportunity to participate and share ideas as clinicians and researchers. ISHA has always been proud of the quality of the Convention Program. All submissions are peer reviewed and acceptance suggests that the work is of the highest caliber.

DEADLINE FOR ALL SUBMISSIONS
June 1, 2013

Any proposals received after this date will not be considered.

The first author will be informed of the status of the proposal by September, 2013.

Presentations must be presented in the time slot and format suggested by the Program Committee.

SUBMISSION OF A PROPOSAL IS A COMMITMENT TO BE A REGISTERED PARTICIPANT OF THE CONVENTION. IN ACCORDANCE WITH ISHA’S POLICY, REGISTRATION FOR THE ISHA CONVENTION IS NOT COMPLIMENTARY FOR SUBMITTED SPEAKERS.

The Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association is an ASHA approved CE Provider. It is the policy of the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association to ensure balance, independence, objectivity and scientific rigor in all CE courses. Therefore, in accordance with ASHA mandates, the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association requires that all individuals involved in developing and delivering course content to be offered for ASHA CEUs disclose relevant financial and nonfinancial relationship(s) by completing the Instructional Personnel Relationship Disclosure Form. If potential conflict of interest is identified, the Continuing Education Administrator will contact the presenter to attempt to understand how the relationship may influence the content of the course and decide appropriate actions. Individuals who refuse to complete the disclosure form will not have proposals reviewed. The Instructional Personnel Relationship Disclosure included in this packet must be completed and included with all Submissions.

CHILD LANGUAGE AND PHONOLOGY (Topics include language acquisition linguistic and phonological disorders, evaluation/remediation in infants, children and adolescents, developmental apraxia, linguistic/phonological aspects of reading/writing.) DYSPHAGIA (Topics include diagnosis, management, and prevention of dysphagia in infants, children, and adults, outcomes, efficacy, and effectiveness, instrumental diagnostic procedures, nutrition management, diagnosis and management of dysphagia in healthcare and educational settings, multidisciplinary programs.) Poster Presentation (Sessions can include data-based reports, experimental research, clinical techniques or theory and practice ideas.) Seminar (Time length is 2 hours. Seminars provide a forum for panels and symposiums that can include but are not to be limited to reports by research teams, descriptions or demonstrations of innovative clinical or programmatic procedures, descriptions of approaches to unique problems or populations, or debates on professional issues in research, education and service delivery.) Exhibitor Technical Session (Time length is 1 hour. Six time slots are available to allow demonstration of products/services outside the Exhibit Hall in an instructional setting. These presentations provide a non-commercial forum where exhibitors may provide research or instruction regarding the evaluation, treatment, or administrative applications of a product, service or material.) Short Course (Time length is 3 hours. Same format as seminar with extended time frame.) Instructional/Technical Session (1 Hour)

Criteria for Acceptance of Proposals

Program subcommittees will evaluate the submitted materials based upon quality, distribution of subject matter and range of membership participation. Only unpublished papers will be considered. In accordance with ASHA CEB Guidelines, presentations must not be used to promote or endorse products or materials. Submissions will NOT be considered for inclusion in the program for such presentations.
