Benefits of participating the departmental honors program include:

  1. developing a close working relationship with a faculty member research mentor
  2. taking the honors seminar class with only 3-5 other students
  3. completing an early guided research experience and thesis (which often looks good on graduate school applications)
  4. having opportunities to present your research project within the department and possibly outside of the department at conferences
  5. developing expertise in an area within communication disorders that interests you for your project
  6. completing an undergraduate project that could be expanded upon for a master's thesis during your graduate program
