I have been serving as a Student Teacher Coordinator for EIU for the past four years in the South Chicago Region. I retired in 2003 after serving thirty-seven years in public education as a classroom teacher, guidance counselor, principal, and superintendent of schools. Thirty-four years in public education was served in the Beecher School District 200-U in Will County. Since retirement I have served as interim superintendent in the Markham School District and two interim principal positions at the elementary level in the Hammond Indiana City School System.

At the graduate level I have served as an adjunct professor teaching school business finance for Concordia University-Chicago. Some other related positions held were as an educational consultant for Gallagher Bassett Insurance Company and a hearing officer for the Calumet City School District #157.

On a personal note I have been married for forty one years to Joan Benni LaPorte and we have two sons who graduated from Indiana University and are working in California and Chicago. As a family we enjoy traveling to Italy. I enjoy playing golf and traveling during the winter to the Florida Gulf Coast.
