EIU'S OLD MAIN TO GLOW RED
Eastern Illinois University will have a special glow about it during the coming week.

On the evenings of March 26, 27 and 28, the institution’s administration building (Old Main, a.k.a., the “Castle”) will be illuminated in red in observance of American Red Cross Month and Hemophilia Awareness Month.

Additionally, the university will host a Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, in the University Ballroom of the MLK Jr. Union. The event is open to the general public.

WELCOME TO EASTERN!
In the pre-dawn hours Thursday (March 21, 2013), the Eastern Illinois University Panther Patrol hit the roads of Coles County to surprise area high school seniors who have been admitted as freshmen for the Fall 2013 semester. Teams of current students and admissions staff – 19 individuals in all – braved icy temperatures and yes, even some mid-March snow flakes, as they visited homes in and around Charleston, Mattoon, Oakland, Ashmore and Humboldt. Signs, balloons and backpacks with additional gifts inside were left for approximately 40 prospective students, welcoming them to the university. Here, Kelly Svoboda, a freshman from Edwardsville, is shown hammering in a sign outside one home while the unaware recipient (presumably) slept inside. Parents of the recipients were in on the surprise, having already given their approval for the teams’ visits.

PROGRAM ANALYSIS UPDATE
In October 2012, President Perry announced a program analysis initiative as one step in the implementation of the university's strategic plan. A 22-member steering committee was charged with developing an analytical template that will assist the university in making budget decisions in Fiscal Year 2014 and beyond.

In recent weeks, a draft of the steering committee's work has been circulated to campus governance groups for review and feedback. Further details about the program analysis initiative, including the most recent draft of the template developed by the steering committee, are posted here.

Two open informational sessions about the program analysis initiative have been scheduled: 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, and 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 3. Both sessions will be held in the Effingham Room of the MLK Jr. Union. These sessions will provide an overview of the program analysis initiative and the steering committee's work to date. The open sessions also will provide an opportunity for participants to provide recommendations and feedback on the current draft of the template.

The steering committee will reconvene in April to review and consider the feedback received and finalize the program analysis template. Comments and feedback regarding the template draft may be submitted through your representatives on campus governance groups or sent directly to any of the steering committee members.
