Julie Lockett is the Director of Instructional Technology Services at Eastern Illinois University. Julie received a Bachelor of Science in education from EIU, a Master of Science in education specializing in instructional technology from Southern Illinois University–Carbondale and completed 30 semester hours beyond the master’s degree in educational administration at EIU. She holds certification from the state of Illinois in both elementary education and general administration. Julie has taught at the elementary and middle school levels in the areas of math, English, science, gifted education and computer technology.
In addition to her current position, Julie has held various positions in instructional technology in higher education. She has served as the director of instructional and information technology services for the College of Education at Indiana State University, the coordinator for technology support on grants for the College of Education and Professional Studies at EIU and the coordinator of online learning at Lake Land College. Julie has been teaching online courses at the college level since January 2000.
As the Director of Instructional Technology Services for EIU, Julie administers the training, development, and instructional design services available from the CATS Office. Julie also assists faculty and staff in the use of technology for instruction, research and work-related duties in addition to support for the development of online courses. Since returning to EIU in 2007, Julie has developed and facilitated the Online Course Development Institute (OCDI) and established the Tech Bytes seminar series in addition to working with faculty and contributing to various other instructional technology projects.
