Video Production (Campus-Wide Events) Student Assistant
This position is responsible to assist with creation of videos (large campus-wide events / conferences / series / informational sessions / documentaries) for CATS and for the campus. This position also assists the campus by performing analog to digital conversions and mass digital duplication of CD and DVD materials.

Employment Status: Part time (SAs: up to 21 hrs/wk in Fall/Spring; up to 28 hrs/wk in Summer)

Job Summary:

The Center for Academic Technology support (CATS), is a campus resource center for a variety of services and technological solutions. CATS is committed to supporting and promoting all academic departments in the use of information and communication technologies for teaching and learning at Eastern Illinois University.

CATS provides digital & multimedia assistance and support to Eastern Illinois University faculty, staff, students, departments and programs. These services include video production, captioning, photography, digital printing & publications, and other media-related needs.

This position is responsible for assisting with the creation of a wide variety of video resources (large campus-wide events / conferences / series / informational sessions / documentaries) for CATS and the surrounding campus. 

Job Functions: 

  1. Video production for campus-wide events, which involves all phases and aspects of production including planning, storyboarding, capturing, post-production
  2. Use of video-related software (Adobe Software and others) and video-related hardware (DSLR, Camcorders, lighting, sound, studio equipment and others), MAC OS
  3. Production and duplication of CD-ROMs, DVDs, and other interactive resources
  4. Consulting with campus constituents on a variety of digital and multimedia-related issues on campus
  5. Work collaboratively with any of the other Multimedia positions on various projects
  6. Conducting Research into new and emerging digital and multimedia technologies
  7. Conducting training for staff and faculty on campus in the use and principles of video production
  8. Learn new technologies
  9. Assist GA assigned to supervise Campus Wide Events
  10. Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • A knowledge of or experience with specific digital & multimedia software/hardware or other skills mentioned above, or the ability to learn these technologies quickly
  • 3.0 GPA in undergraduate work 
  • Some relevant work experience is preferred but not required
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Attention to detail
  • Affinity for technology
  • Adaptable / flexible to the changing needs of the campus and technology
  • Good time management skills: the ability to work under a deadline and meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • The ability to troubleshoot
  • Demonstration of project management skills or the ability to learn these skills
