Training Services

Training Services for Students GA 
The position is responsible for assisting Training Services for Students as a training support person who facilitates effective integration and use of technology in student learning and development.

Location: Gregg Technology Center, EIU, Charleston, IL 61920
Position Title: GA for Training Services
Grad. Coordinator: Rhonda Brotherton
Project Supervisor: Kim Ervin
Employment Status: Part time (19 hrs wk Fall/Spring; 15 hrs/wk Summer)
Terms: Contract
Period: Minimum 1 year

Job Summary:

The Center for Academic Technology support (CATS), is a campus resource center for a variety of services and technological solutions. CATS is committed to supporting and promoting all academic departments in the use of information and communication technologies for teaching and learning at Eastern Illinois University.

Training Services for Students focuses on the development of creative, innovative, and effective uses of established and emerging technologies for students.

Job Functions:

  1. Design, develop, implement, and evaluate technology trainings for students
  2. Assist with creation and collection of technology resource materials
  3. Offering technology support to students
  4. Assist in technology trainings for students
  5. Learn new technologies
  6. Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Acceptance into a degree-awarding graduate program
  • 3.0 GPA in current graduate work or 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work
  • Proficient written and oral communication
  • Adaptable / flexible to the changing needs of the campus and technology
  • The ability to work under a deadline
  • The ability to work with multiple projects simultaneously and flexibility to transition back and forth between projects
  • Good organization skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Professionalism
  • Some relevant work experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of Mac computers preferred, not required
  • Working knowledge of video development preferred, not required
