4Concentrations are available in Environmental Studies, Geographic Techniques and Spatial Analysis, International Studies and General Geography. Students may take additional coursework to complete multiple concentrations which will appear on their transcript. The General Geography concentration cannot be combined with any other. Electives are chosen in consultation with Eastern Illinois University faculty advisor.

5Completion of the second semester of a single foreign language is a graduation requirement. Students are exempt if two full years of a high school foreign language is complete with a "C" average or better.

6Students should consider completing an Earth Science minor by completing ESC 2450G and 3410.

7Select from Geography and/or Earth Science electives chosen in consultation with EIU faculty advisor. Students are encouraged to consider an Internship, Independent Studies and/or research as parat of their curriculum (GEG/GEL/ESC 4275, GEG/GEL/ESC 4400, GEG/GEL/ESC 4430.

University Graduation Requirements
Among other requirements, students graduating from EIU must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher; an GPA of 2.0 or higher in the major; 40 semester hours of upper-division course (3000-4000 level); complete or have documented exemption from two courses in a single foreign language with a GPA of 2.0 or higher; two upper-division writing-intensive courses and electronic writing portfolio submission and assessment.
