Tarble Arts Center Location/Hours:

The Tarble Arts Center, located on South Ninth Street at Cleveland Avenue on the EIU campus, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.  It is closed Mondays and holidays.

Admission to exhibitions and events is free unless otherwise noted.

March 21, 2010 - Exhibit -- 'Saturation: New Paintings by Maria Tomasula' (Jan. 16 through March 21)

Working with themes of identity, being and self-hood in the 'post-human' age, these paintings work within and extend the tradition of Western painting, especially as developed in Latin American devotional art.

Tomasula is the Michael P. Grace Endowed Professor of Art, University of Notre Dame.  This is a Doudna Fine Arts Center New and Emerging Artist Series program, presented in cooperation with the EIU Art Department and the Tarble Arts Center.

Sculpture inspired by a life-long immersion in the cause-and-effect operations of machinery -- including sound and video -- as metaphors for the complexity and imperfection of human actions that “reveal the beauty in repetitive gestures that mirror life’s irresolute choreography.”
