John Loftus: 'Why I Rejected Christianity and Went to the Dark Side'

The EIU Society for Free Thought will be hosting a presentation by John Loftus, who spent 14 years as a minister, teacher, and Christian apologist before leaving the faith and becoming an atheist.

His presentation at EIU -- 'Why I Rejected Christianity and Went to the Dark Side' -- will outline his reasons for doubting the truth of Christianity and embracing the philosophy of atheism. A Q&A session will follow.

Mr. Loftus is well-known in the skeptical community for his books Why I Became an Atheist: A Former Preacher Rejects Christianity, named the #1 Best Atheist Book of the Decade, and The Outsider Test for Faith: How to Know Which Religion Is True. He has master's degrees in Philosophy, Theology, and Philosophy of Religion from Lincoln Christian Seminary in Lincoln, Ill., and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
