The subject for February's Brown Bag Series Presentation will be “The Tie That Bound Us: Annie Brown, the Harpers Ferry Raid, and the Memory of Radical Antislavery.”

Dr. Bonnie Laughlin-Schultz is the Social Sciences Studies program chair and an assistant professor of History specializing in the broad Civil War era, the memory of the Civil War in American culture, and American women's history. Her book on the women of abolitionist John Brown's history will be forthcoming from Cornell University Press in fall of 2013.

Recent publications include; “Going to Housekeeping, Going to War: Annie Brown Adams and Memory of John Brown’s Raid,” in Soldiers in the Army of the Lord: John Brown’s Legions and “Endangering the Peace of Society: Abolitionist Agitation and Mob Reaction in St. Louis and Alton, 1836–1838”.
