Faculty Advising: Creating Positive Relationships With Your Advisees

Faculty-to-student advising is a critical component of the undergraduate educational experience. Because this interaction is so central to student success, the Campus Advising Network, in partnership with Faculty Development, invites any faculty who is already involved in advising students, or is interested in this area of service and instruction, to participate in a conversation with faculty already engaged in advising.

Experienced faculty panelists Julie Dietz (Health Studies), Cathy Schoonover (Psychology), Brian Poulter (Journalism), and Craig Eckert (Sociology-Anthropology), will discuss the potential and pitfalls of faculty advising as well as how advising is accomplished in each panel member's specific department.

Lunch will be provided to those who register. For more information, please contact the Campus Advising Network at 217-581-2313 or at mazeigler@eiu.edu.
