'Building Memories: Creating a Campus Community'

The 2011-2012 class created an exhibit entitled 'Building Memories: Creating a Campus Community.' The exhibit opens in Eastern Illinois University's Booth Library on April 12, 2012 and explores memory on EIU campus. We look at themes such as forgotten memories, campus collective memories, interaction with the built environment, and memory and commemoration. All of these themes have shaped the EIU community and continue to play a role in how the campus and its students evolve.

Topics including Lake Ahmoweenah, campus protests, Napoleon, building names, and the Pemberton ghost are only a few of the subjects our exhibit will explore. We also have a vignette recreating a Eastern Illinois University dorm room from the early 1970s, featuring furniture and artifacts from various campus residence halls.
