Novelist Tim O'Brien, author of 'The Things They Carried' and many other novels and stories, including most recently 'July, July,' will give a lecture and reading at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in the Doudna Fine Arts Center's Black Box.  A book signing will follow.

O'Brien's lecture and reading are part of the James Jones Lecture Series, established in 2007 by the EIU College of Arts and Humanities, and the departments of English and history, in conjunction with the James Jones Literary Society, in support of the establishment of the James Jones Chair in World War II Studies in English and History at EIU.
