At the annual RISE conference, all universities with student-managed portfolios are invited to compete for cash awards based on their performance in the areas of growth, value, blend, balanced, alternative and fixed-income styles of management based on the fund’s performance during the previous calendar year. The EIU School of Business Applied Securities Analysis class (FIN4220 and MBA5880), which manages an equity fund for the Eastern Illinois University Endowment , entered the competition and finished in third place in the Growth investment style category. During the fund evaluation period, 31 undergraduate and 4 graduate students participated in the management of the fund.
