EIU's Excellent Business Programs
Entice Transfer Students
Brittany Carlberg is a Marketing major who transferred to EIU after receiving her Associate’s in Business Administration at Lake Land College in Mattoon. She says that the excellence of the School of Business programs was a main factor in choosing EIU. She also notes the various study abroad programs available at EIU. She says, “I am looking to take part in the National Student Exchange program that is only available in two universities in Illinois, EIU being one of them.” Her experience as a transfer student at Eastern has been positive, as she says, “All of the faculty members are willing to guide transfer students toward making beneficial decisions to aid their progress at the university as well as in searching for career opportunities.” Transfer students are encouraged to begin the School of Business’ College to Career Program as soon as they get to EIU’s campus. This program is instrumental in preparing all School of Business students for their careers.
Brittany has the following advice for incoming transfer students: “Ask questions, do your research, and take advantage of all that is available to you. Don’t stress about coming to a new university! Everyone is very welcoming. EIU has provided me with many opportunities to advance my career goals. The key to get there is to gain all necessary knowledge on aspects you’re interested in. There is always a faculty member that is willing to guide you in the right direction. EIU has given me an outstanding opportunity to follow my dreams; I just had to do some research to get there.”
