Dr Wang earned his Ph.D. from Victoria University of Wellington, and is currently an Assistant Professor of Accounting at EIU. Dr Wang currently investigates innovative financial decision-making and cost accounting tools that will help businesses gain a strategic advantage over their competitors and achieve superior performance in the long-run. In particular, Dr Wang's research studies how traditional accounting controls may negatively affect a firm's innovation and strategic adaptability. Fundamental to his research are the links between innovations, competitive strategies and accounting.

Dr Wang was previously an auditor with Deloitte in New Zealand and has taught accounting courses in the Australian National University (ANU) and Victoria University of Wellington (VUW).

Dr. Wang is also the recipent of IMA Gold Medal for achieving the highest scores in CMA examinations in the world in 2012.
