Business Internship Updates
Several local businesses contact the School of Business Internship Coordinator to post internship opportunities. These opportunities often allow a student to experience an internship while still taking classes on campus.
Local internships are posted on the bulletin boards in Lumpkin Hall or announced through the “Business Internship Update Listserv.” You are notified of opportunities through your EIU email account. To receive this update, fill out a request form in Lumpkin Hall 2051 or send the following information by e-mail to the Internship Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org: name, EIU email address, major, and expected date of graduation.
Each fall semester, the Internship Coordinator produces a panel presentation given by students who completed an internship the previous summer. This panel is a great starting point for students who are interested in getting an internship but are not sure where to start. Look for announcements on the next internship panel.
EIU's Career Services hosts two on-campus Career Network Days each year that are of interest to Business students; one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester. Recently, a Multi-Cultural Career Expo has also been held in the Fall semester. A Career Network Day or Career Expo is an opportunity for students to talk to representatives from companies that employ EIU graduates, to learn more about the employers, and to inquire about internship opportunities. Students who attend a Career Network Day should dress professionally and take several copies of their resume. For dates, and tips on preparing for the event, visit the Career Services website.
Involvement in School of Business Student Organizations allow students the opportunity to meet representatives of companies which recruit EIU students for internships through speaker meetings, social events, field trips and special events such as Accounting Day and AITP Career Connections Day.
