PAWS

PAWS is the student online system that helps you keep track of your academic life. Your PAWS account allows you to complete important tasks (like registering for classes) and provides access to lots of information including:

• Registration: Printable class schedules, web-based registration, and drop/add capabilities
• Financial Aid: Aid award information, required documentation needed to complete the application, and loan eligibility amounts

• Panthermail and Desire2Learn access

Access PAWS from:
EIU’s home page: http://www.eiu.edu

Desire2Learn (D2L)

Desire2Learn (D2L) is a web-based system that is used for delivery of online classes and to provide tools and information for traditionally delivered classes. If the instructor of any of your classes uses D2L, you will need to become familiar with the system. To access D2L click on the "eiu online" link on the University Home Page or go to: www.eiu.edu/online

Library Access

As an EIU student, you have access to library materials at EIU’s Booth Library and at other Illinois academic libraries including those at Parkland College and the University of Illinois. For online access to Booth Library’s databases from off-campus, you will need a library number that is available through your PAWS account (under “Student Passwords & Keys”). The instructors for all of your classes should also have a library number that can be used to access Booth Library’s databases. If you want to check out materials from any Illinois academic library, you will need an ID card (see below).

Student ID Cards

Student ID cards for off-campus students can be requested online at: www.eiu.edu/adulted/requestidcard.php

If you attend on-campus at Charleston, you will be issued a campus ID card (Panther Card: www.eiu.edu/campusid/).

Career Services

Students in the EIU Business program at Parkland may use EIU’s Career Services which provides a wealth of online resources that you may use in looking for jobs or internships. You also are welcome to attend on-campus events including workshops and Career Network Days. See Career Services’ website for more details: http://www.eiu.edu/careers/

Academic Calendar

Be sure to check the official Academic Calendar for important academic deadlines (such as last day to add classes or drop classes) and official holidays. The Academic Calendar is online at: http://www.eiu.edu/registra/acacal.php

Class Schedules

Each semester, class schedules are posted online through PAWS. You can also easily access the off-campus schedules from the School of Continuing Education’s home page (see "View Course Schedule" in Current Students box on the left side of the page): http://www.eiu.edu/adulted/.
