We would like to introduce ourselves and welcome you to the BA in General Studies degree program. We are program advisors available to discuss your evaluation, assist you in choosing classes, and answer any questions you may have as you work towards graduation.

Included in the New Student Information is a degree audit, presenting a summary of your completed and remaining hours as well as graduation requirements. Please notice the BGS 2985 course listed on the degree audit. This is a required orientation course designed to assist our students with their transition into the university format and the accompanying regimen of taking classes, as well as acclimating them to B.A. in General Studies policies and procedures. Before registering for classes your first semester, please contact us via email or telephone so we can help you register for the next available BGS 2985 class.

We strongly encourage you to join the School of Continuing Education Listserv in order to: 1) receive notification of off-campus schedule release dates, 2) stay informed of class additions and/or cancellations throughout the semester, and 3) to receive other important program announcements. Information about the listserv and instructions for joining can be found online.

Our office hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday (we close at noon on Fridays during the summer). Students are always welcome to come to our campus office for advisement. Since this is not practical for most students, we advise at off-campus locations as well. We also “meet” with students on prearranged dates and times over the phone and via Skype (webcam). You may make an appointment or ask to speak with an advisor by calling Pam at 217-581-5618.

Again welcome to the program! We encourage you to make an appointment to meet with us soon. Please do not hesitate to call us if we can assist you in any way as you work toward degree completion and graduation.
