Student Highlights

"My interest in Asia began with the arts and language. My father is a Shaolin Kung Fu instructor and I've been training and competing in martial arts and combat sports since a young child. I also draw Manga. I studied Manga in Japan in summer of 2017. The experience motivated me to return to school to pursue Art and Japanese studies. I recently released my first book in English and Japanese and established the Japanese Culture Club at EIU this semester. I am studying Studio art and Chinese at EIU and look forward to expanding my horizons and gaining a deeper understanding of Asian history and philosophy through this program."

Kofi M Bazzell-Smith, Founder/President EIU Japanese Culture Club
