Achieving Personal and Academic Growth
The Master of Arts program at Eastern Illinois University provided me the opportunity to work in a focused studio environment over the course of an academic year. I was encouraged to develop a self-disciplined studio practice, create a cohesive body of work, and gain focus in my own research. This helped me contextualize my practice in how it relates to other current artistic practices. Working with diverse faculty and a motivated peer group, EIU provided me with a social network that continues to offer feedback. My experience at EIU was indispensable in advancing my education. It played a crucial role in expediting my growth as an artist, helping me get into a prestigious Master of Fine Arts program, Washington University in St. Louis, and preparing me for the rigors of that transition.
