Smith Leverages Facilities to Develop as Artist
Chad D. Smith in his studio.
The time I spent at Eastern Illinois University's Master of Arts program is invaluable. I am currently the Director at Linda Warren Projects gallery and a working artist in Chicago. Since I received my MA degree at EIU in 2009, I have shown my work in four group exhibitions and benefits in Chicago and New York, I had a solo show in Michigan City, IN and I am preparing for a solo show at Monmouth College in Monmouth, IL which will open in February of 2013.
The demands in academics and studio practice at EIU's MA program have greatly contributed to the artist and professional I am today. From the spacious studios in the Burl Ives Studio Hall and the state of the art facilities at the Doudna Fine Arts Center to the accessibility of cross-departmental resources and professionals, the whole environment of EIU's MA program is well designed to facilitate a space where artists can grow and challenge their own artistic vision.
My experience in the MA program is treasured and the relationships I've made with professors and peers are still as strong, valuable and beneficial today as they were then.
