Announcing ForeverEIU, your new alumni magazine and newsletter

Last summer, University Marketing and Creative Services sent a lengthy survey to alumni to better understand what you wanted in your magazine. The majority of you told us you were happy with the magazine, but we also learned there was room to improve and we have been working hard to create a publication you will continue to want to show friends and family.

The magazine, available to Association Members, will debut this June as ForeverEIU. This first issue will focus on a little of EIU’s history – and we’d like a little help from you.

1. If you have a picture of yourself in your residence hall and would like to share your photo in the magazine, please send it our way. We’d like to take your photo and match it up with a similar picture of today’s resident. Please include any information you have about your room, including the year, room number, residence hall, etc.

2. Whether it be that quick flick of motion you saw out of the corner of your eye or the bold presence of a bushy tail and two bright eyes watching you stroll across campus, squirrels have been an ever-present feature at EIU.  If you’ve had a campus encounter with one of these “loveable” rodents, we’d love to hear your story.

3. We’d like to know what your favorite place on campus is, and why. If you have a picture of yourself in that place, we’d love to see that too.

4. Finally, if you have something you’d like to say to us, we’d love to hear from you.

All correspondence for the new magazine can be sent to forevereiumag@eiu.edu.

We are excited to hear from you and hope you will be as proud to show off your alma mater in this new magazine as we are proud to call you our alumni.

President Perry honored at Legacy event

In order to recognize President Perry's time as president, several special guests attended EIU's Legacy Celebration April 10. Perry was presented with several awards, including the Burnham and Nancy Neal Outstanding Philanthropist Award and a resolution recognizing his accomplishments from State Representative Reggie Phillips (R-Charleston).

Perry's official presidential portrait, funded by the EIU foundation and Alumni Association, was also unveiled, as was the Dr. William Perry Scholarship, funded by a $50,000 endowment.

School of Business Young Professionals Series

The School of Business Young Professionals Series is an opportunity for EIU School of Business alumni to return to campus to provide current students with practical advice. Young alumni return to campus each spring and students have the opportunity to ask questions to find out what it really is like in the professional world. Students learn how to make the transition from student to professional. The program also provides an opportunity for School of Business alumni to remain involved and invested in the future of their alma mater.

If you, or someone you know, is interested in returning to campus for future opportunities, contact the School of Business at: business@eiu.edu.
