Minor In Africana Studies at EIU

A.S.S.A. (SANKOFA)

The purpose of the  Africana Studies Student Association (SANKOFA) at Eastern Illinois University is to initiate discussion regarding the African and African American experience from an historical context to the present day.  Our goal is to provide a favorable environment for academic and personal growth to the members of our organization to expand their knowledge base in the area of  Africana Studies through discussion, seminars, workshops, special studies courses, conferences, and academic excursions.

The Africana Studies Student Association (SANKOFA) at Eastern Illinois University is a “registered” student organization at Eastern Illinois University and agrees to adhere to all local, state & federal regulations, university policies and Student Life Office procedures as set forth in the EIU Registered Student Organization & Advisor Handbook.

The  Africana Studies Student Association (SANKOFA) at Eastern Illinois University is affiliated with the Africana Studies program at Eastern Illinois University and adheres to the guidelines of  Africana Studies and Eastern Illinois University.
