I.  Minutes
The minutes of September 21, 2011 were approved by acclamation.

II.  Executive Actions
No new executive action requests.  Follow up on the request to revise the English major as a result of changes in the Illinois Articulation Initiative:  approved by CAA on September 22, 2011, effective fall 2012

III.  Items acted upon

  • 11.01 Proposed revisions to the Latin American Studies Minor

    Jose Deustua presented the proposal and addressed questions from committee members. Motion
    made (Hoerschelmann) and seconded (Sterling) to approve.  Item approved with minor revision. (9-0)

  • 11.02 Proposed revisions to the Music Teacher Certification option
        Paul Johnston presented the proposal and addressed questions from committee members.  Motion made  
        (Wolski) and seconded (McGregor) to approve.  Item approved with minor revision. (9-0)

IV.  Items added to the agenda

•  11.03 Proposed Jazz Studies Minor

•  11.04 Proposed English Language Arts  (Teacher Certification) Minor

•  11.05 New Course Proposal ENG 1105 English Forum

V.  Revisiting Bylaws
Committee members discussed last year’s attempt to revise the bylaws.  Proposed revisions were reviewed.  Suggestions will be incorporated into a newly revised document.  Committee members will then take the document to their respective departments for discussion before being brought to a vote in early spring 2012

VI.   Call for student representatives
Committee members will continue to seek a student representative from Humanities and another from Fine Arts.
