Graduate Assistantships

The Historical Administration Program awards from five to nine assistantships in any given year. All assistantships come with a full tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. Recipients must still pay all relevant university fees. Most assistantships require seventeen hours of work per week. In addition to departmental graduate assistants, who are assigned to work with history professors, the program often has externally funded assistantships available. These can vary from year to year but have included an internship with the Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD) at Booth Library, located on campus; an assistantship at the Tarble Arts Center; and an assistantship with the Coles County Historical Society.

Students who are invited to interviews are given the opportunity to apply for assistantships at that time.
