Counseling Center – Assistant Director

The University invites applications for a full-time, 12 month Assistant Director position. The Assistant Director will provide: administrative and supervisory leadership of the Counseling Center and its staff during periods of the Director's absence; including representation of the Counseling Center at University meetings and functions; assist in the development, maintenance and evaluation of the counseling, crisis intervention, outreach, and consultation services provided by the Counseling Center; assist in the recruitment, selection, and supervision of the Counseling Center counselors, interns, and graduate assistants; assist in the development and implementation of the Center's annual goals and strategic planning process; provide backup consultation services to the on call counselor; and perform other duties as assigned. The position also includes the responsibilities of a staff counselor which are to provide individual, couples and group counseling, assessment, crisis intervention, rotating on-call services, consultation and varied outreach programming.

PhD highly preferred, masters required in a degree of Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or related field. Licensure in the state of Illinois , or the ability to be licensed in the state of Illinois within one year of hire date is required. The ideal candidate will have extensive clinical experience to the point of being able to assist in the clinical supervision of the staff. Experience with managing crises is necessary. Experience with strategic planning and other administrative management would be beneficial. Candidates who are committed to the overall wellness of students and to contributing to the wellness of a positive, team environment with the ability to laugh loud and often are highly desired.
