Mandan and Hidatsa Team
The Mandans and Hidatsas lived in lodges. They lived off of buffalo, deer, bear, and berries. Lewis and Clark arrived in their villages on October 25, 1804. It would take them 2 years and 4 months to finish their expedition. They would travel more than 8000 miles! The Mandans and Hidatsa gave them food, and shelter. Lewis and Clark stayed with them for the whole first winter.  The Mandans were called the white faced Native Americans.  They believed that they came from the center of the earth.
