Dual admission....

What is dual admission?

Dual admission to Eastern Illinois University is available to students planning to complete an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), Associate in Science and Arts (A.S.A.), Associate in General Studies (A.G.S.), or an Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.) from a participating community college and a baccalaureate degree from EIU. The Dual Admission Program (DAP) facilitates the transfer of students from the community college to EIU. Students who fulfill the requirements of the DAP agreement are guaranteed acceptance to the University with full junior status. However, students must meet departmental requirements for acceptance into specific majors. Also, students who transfer with associate degrees that do not fulfill the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) General Education core curriculum requirements may have to attend additional semesters to complete their baccalaureate degree.

Which community colleges are participating?

Kaskaskia College
Lake Land College
Parkland College
Richland Community College
Danville Area Community College
Southwestern Illinois College
Illinois Eastern Community Colleges:
Frontier Community College; Lincoln Trail College; Olney Central College; Wabash Valley College

We are working to expand the DAP to other community colleges. Please contact Transfer Relations for more information.

What are the benefits of the dual admission program?

  • EIU will notify the community college of the student’s acceptance into the program
  • The community college will send an official transcript to EIU at the end of each semester at no cost upon receipt of a list of dual admission students from EIU
  • EIU will complete a degree audit each semester for students in the DAP based on the major selected on the EIU application for admission
  • EIU will make available the degree audit to students through Panther Access to Web Services (PAWS)
  • Students will receive academic advising from community college staff who have been assigned to coordinate with the EIU liaison for the DAP
  • Students will have access to financial aid planning and academic assistance at EIU
  • Submit an application for admission to the participating community college
  • Submit a DAP application for admission and application fee to EIU before completing 45 semester hours of college level course work at the community college or any other post-secondary institution (DAP application can be picked up from the community college)
  • Declare an EIU academic major of the DAP application
  • Send official high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores to EIU and the participating community college, if required
  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average on 2.0/4.0 based on all college level course work
