Career Opportunities for Social Science Majors
Graduates
of Eastern's Social Science Studies Program have a wide range of employment/career
opportunities. The program's primary purpose of course is to prepare teachers
of secondary social studies for the schools of the state and the nation.
However, the major also provides a good grounding for employment in a
variety of governmental agencies and business organizations. In addition,
the major offers excellent interdisciplinary undergraduate preparation
for graduate study in history, political science, sociology and a number
of other of the social science disciplines. Several of the program's graduates
have also completed law school. All of the disciplines which serve as
integral components of the major require critical thinking and strong
communications skills. The Social Science Studies Program also provides
its majors with a robust oral presentation skill set. All such skills
are valuable in a wide variety of jobs.
