      A SUGGESTION
The UPD averages unlocking 350 cars a year for those who have locked themselves out of their vehicle.  As technology advances our ability to open many models is decreasing.  Please bring two sets of keys to school and keep a set at your residence or carry them on your person.  It may save you the cost of a locksmith.

ATTENTION ALL FACULTY AND STAFF

WE CAN SAVE YOU MONEY IN THE PURCHASE OF YOUR PARKING PERMIT!
You may purchase your parking permit through a payroll deduction. IRS regulations have changed so that this deduction will happen before federal and state taxes are calculated thus reducing your taxes and increasing your net pay. Payroll deduction forms can be filled out when obtaining the permit at parking services.

1. Parking office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

2. Parking is enforced 24 hours, 7 days a week, all year. You may park in student lots and some staff lots on Saturday and Sunday without a permit. Read the signs at the entrance to each lot.

3. Permit cost are: $25:00 per semester or $50:00 per year for staff, faculty and upperclassman or students 21 or over.
Underclassman permits are $75:00 per semester or $150:00 per year with restricted parking areas.
Visitors can purchase a day pass at the University Police Department for $1.50 per day.

4. Upperclassman are 60 hours through grad student or 21 years of age.
Underclassman are 59 hours or less and/or under 21 years of age.

5. If you forget your permit come in and get a temporary.
If you permit is lost or stolen come to the University Police Department to file a police report. YOU will be responsible for any parking tickets until the time of the report.

6. All vehicles must have a permit to park on campus during the hours the lots are monitored except in student lots and some staff lots on Saturday and Sunday.

7. There have always been parking spaces available. Sometimes they are on the outer edges of campus. This sometimes requires a 5 or 10 minute walk. To find a space close plan to arrive early. A permit does not guarantee a parking space.
It allows you to park on campus in a legal spot.

8. Parking space. Parking services does not build anything. We simply administer the parking space that exist on campus.
More parking space requires more and higher fees. EIU tries to maintain a balance between cost and availability.

9. PARKING FINES. At EIU most parking fines are $40.00. Fire lane violations are $75.00, Handicap space violations
are $100.00.

Once each month parking tickets are transferred to the Business Office. PARKING FINES THAT ARE NOT PAID WILL KEEP YOU FROM REGISTERING AND RECEIVING TRANSCRIPTS. Anyone that disregards parking regulations tramples on the right of others to park in their assigned spaces. You can AVOID ALL FINES by complying with the rules.

11. Parking does not dismiss valid parking tickets. THE RESPONSIBILITY TO LEARN AND COMPLY WITH RULES AND REGULATIONS FALLS ON YOU.
