The EIU Department of Music is excited to announce the 2008 Peck Music Competition on Saturday, March 1 in the Tarble Arts Center Atrium. The preliminary competition takes place from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, and the final round begins promptly at 3:00 pm. Both the final and preliminary rounds are free and open to the public, with the final round presented as a formal concert and awards ceremony. The competition features the Music Department’s finest student vocalists, instrumentalists, and pianists performing a variety of styles from classical to jazz to contemporary and competing for cash prizes in the amounts of $250, $500, and $1000. The 3:00 concert features performances by each of the finalists, and after a brief intermission, the three winners will be announced and the First Prize winner will perform a special encore selection. Please join us for this day full of wonderful music with just the right touch of suspense and surprise!
