Open a Telnet Session:
When using a PC with Windows:
- Select Run from the Start menu.
- Type telnet ux1.eiu.edu <enter>
When using a MAC:
- Select NCSA Telnet from Apple Menu.
- Select File, click Open Connection.
- Select the Host/Session Name and type
ux1.eiu.edu <Connect>
For Faculty/Staff Login Name cfxyz:
- At the login: prompt, type
cfxyz <enter>
- At the Password: prompt, type
your UX1 account password <enter>
At the eiu% prompt type:
- For E-MAIL (elm or pine)
elm <enter> or pine
<enter>
- Change Password
passwd <enter>
Valid password is case sensititve and has six to eight
characters, at least one letter (A-Z, a-z), and one number.

ftp <enter>
Fix elm (two copies running)
fixelm <enter>
