Dr. Jim McGaughey, associate professor of biological sciences, currently serves as the coordinator for the graduate program in natural sciences. The graduate program offers a master of science degree in natural sciences with concentrations in biological sciences and physical sciences. The concentration in physical sciences also allows for areas of emphasis in chemistry, physics and geology/geography. Dr. McGaughey’s research interests in the field of education include evaluation of science curricula and its impact on scientific literacy among students. In addition, he is currently conducting research in the areas of water and environmental microbiology. He received his doctorate from the University of Illinois in 1997.
