The graduate program offers a master of science degree in natural sciences with concentrations in biological sciences and physical sciences. The concentration in physical sciences also allows for areas of emphasis in chemistry, physics and geology/geography. Dr. McGaughey’s research interests in the field of education include evaluation of science curricula and its impact on scientific literacy among students. In addition, he is currently conducting research in the areas of water and environmental microbiology. He received his doctorate from the University of Illinois in 1997. Admission to the graduate program in natural sciences requires an application to the Graduate School (on-line at http://www.applyweb.com/apply/eiu/menu.html) as well as an additional application to the Department of Biological Sciences.
